To sign up for an account, you’ll either need your ATM or debit card number (with personal identification number), or your checking, savings or money market account number with your last statement balance. Once you’ve entered that information, you’ll be asked for your personal information like name, address, and Social Security number. After you enter that information, you’re all set to start managing your account online.
If you’re setting up a brand new account, there is a $50 minimum balance for both their free checking and their rewards checking. There is no monthly fee for a checking account from United Bank.
United Bank takes their customers’ security very seriously. They actively monitor every one of their accounts for fraud, and will automatically freeze an account if they see that it has been compromised. Oftentimes, they’ll have a new card in the mail before a customer can even request it. Customers are not liable for any unauthorized charges. Should your account run in to trouble and a new card be issued, know that your new card will have a different number than your old one, so you’ll have to update any accounts online where you have this card.
